"Ice Palaces"; 2013 completion; glass smalti and stone mosaics; 4 wall surfaces, each 7’H x 11’W; 4 infill panels, each 7’H x 1.75’W; Central Corridor Light Rail 10th Street Station; St. Paul, MN. Commissioned by the Metropolitan Council.
This piece is based on the history of an annual community event, the St. Paul Winter Carnival. The first three Ice Palaces for the Carnival were built in late 1880’s in the immediate vicinity of the station. Based on archival photographs, fragments of the grand Ice Palaces will be interpreted in mosaics.

"Ancient Waters"; 2013 completion; glass mosaics; 2 wall surfaces, each 7’H x 11’W; 8 infill panels, each 7’H x 1.75’W; Robert Street Station, Central Corridor Light Rail, St. Paul, MN. Commissioned by the Metropolitan Council.
The images were inspired by the geological history of the ancient Glacial River Warren (approx. course of the Minnesota River) and its tributary, the Mississippi River, flooding this valley area 12,000 years ago; creating a waterfall larger than Niagara Falls. In the current context, adjacent to the Capitol, the images also allude to the sometimes fluid, but also static nature, of communication.

"Memory Imprint"; 2013 completion; 4 painted and laser cut aluminum column wraps and integral concrete platform design; 8.5’H x 270’W x 16’D; Central Corridor Light Rail 29th Avenue Station, Minneapolis, MN. Commissioned by the Metropolitan Council.
Located in a changing industrial area and adjacent to a historic residential district, this concept alludes to a historical timeline of flax seed production that creates connections between Minnesota’s agricultural past, rail transportation, grain storage, manufacturing and architectural history.
