The sculptural elements refer to both the technical and academic emphasis of the school curriculum. The large gear/wheels suggest familiar iconic forms and manufacturing processes, while the bench forms imply various joinery techniques. Words with dual meanings, such as Connect and Engage, are carved into the seating surface; referencing both the academic, in connecting thoughts and ideas, as well as technical skills, in connecting structure and materials.
